Driving into the Deep South with my Demon and Other Poems is an online collection of poetry by Luke Powers.  The poems are copyright 2001 and 2002 by Phoebe Claire Publishing, LLC, all rights reserved.

BIO                                                               Luke was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1962.  He attended the McCallie School, graduating as valedictorian in the class of 1980.  He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a John Motley Morehead Scholar, graduating with Honors in English in 1984.  He continued his studies at UNC, receiving a Master's degree in Folklore in 1986.  He then attended Vanderbilt University as a University Fellow.  He received his Ph.D. in English in 1990; the subject of his dissertation was the literary legacy of poet/visionary William Blake.  

Luke teaches English and Folklore at Tennessee State University, an historically black college in Nashville, Tennessee.  In 1996 he was recognized as Outstanding Teacher of the Year at TSU.  He currently lives in Franklin, Tennessee with his wife Jackie O'Keefe and their daughter Phoebe Claire.
